National Right to Life Committee and Georgia Life Alliance Praise Selection of Rep. Tom Price as Secretary of Health & Human Services

The National Right to Life Committee and Georgia Life Alliance is praising President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of U.S. Rep. Tom Price, M.D., (R-GA) to serve as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

“Dr. Tom Price will bring to the Department of Health and Human Services a strong record in defense of innocent human life,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Dr. Price will empower the Department of Health and Human Services to protect the most vulnerable members of our society: the unborn and their mothers, the elderly, and the medically dependent and disabled.”

Throughout his tenure in the United States House of Representatives, which began in 2005, Dr. Price has a 100% pro-life voting record. He is a co-sponsor of major pro-life legislation, including the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (which would protect from abortion unborn children at 20 weeks fetal age or later, who are capable of feeling pain), and the Health Care Conscience Rights Act (which would prevent any level of government from discriminating against health care providers who decline to participate in abortions, and would counter regulatory mandates that violate the religious or moral convictions of those who purchase or provide health insurance).

Dr. Price has also been a leader on healthcare, proposing reforms that would dismantle Obamacare’s disastrous rationing mechanisms.

Emily Matson of Georgia Life Alliance said, “Rep. Tom Price has long been a solid partner in the fight to protect the unborn. As a physician, he is intimately aware of the intricacies and humanity of children in the womb.  We have been so grateful for his heart and knowledge on our side of this fight to protect the most innocent. We anticipate his commitment to protect the unborn will continue in this esteemed role as Secretary of Human Health and Services.”

We are pleased to have a friend in Washington, in a place which will give a voice to the life-affirming culture Georgia Life Alliance works to promote. We congratulate Congressman Price on his nomination and hope to see him promptly confirmed by the Senate when the new administration takes office.
