The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) today released another video in a series exposing the baby body part harvesting and trafficking conducted by affiliates of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the nation’s largest abortion provider. This is the sixth such video released by CMP uncovering the gruesome nature of Planned Parenthood’s huge abortion business.

“If it seems disturbing and repulsive to proudly flaunt participation in the killing of a human life, that’s because it is,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “In previous videos, that’s exactly what we’ve seen Planned Parenthood officials doing – with total disregard for the unborn children whose body parts are being harvested.”

The series of videos by the Center for Medical Progress have highlighted the need for legislation such as the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act, and has renewed efforts to end Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding. Earlier this month, Senate Democrats blocked a measure (S. 1881), introduced by Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), that would cut off federal funding of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America and its affiliates. Several states, including Alabama, Louisiana and New Hampshire have moved to cease state funding of Planned Parenthood affiliates.

Despite this outcry for action by elected officials and the introduction of pro-life legislation, a Monmouth University poll released on August 4 found that the news media continues to take its cues from Planned Parenthood and their crisis communications firm and treat the videos as a non-story. The poll found that an astounding 53% had not seen or heard news about the CMP videos.

“It’s an unconscionable breach of the public trust that the mainstream news media allows itself to be herded like cattle by Planned Parenthood and their crisis-consultants, ignoring the grisly revelations about Planned Parenthood’s abortion business” Tobias said.

Journalists who wish to engage in original reporting about Planned Parenthood and their abortion business, may find useful a documented background memo released by National Right to Life on August 4 , which highlights some of the popular Planned Parenthood myths that have been perpetuated in recent news accounts.

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest provider of abortions – about one-third of all abortions in the U.S. are performed at Planned Parenthood-affiliated facilities. According to their most recent annual report , Planned Parenthood received at least $528 million annually from the federal government or other levels of government.

“As baby body parts are being routinely salvaged from brutal abortion procedures – their bodies sifted through for organs while fees are callously being negotiated – the media continues to remain silent,” Tobias added. “If only these innocent babies were puppies or kittens, perhaps then we would hear uproar from those reporting the news.”
