Today marked Day 1 of the Georgia 2016 Legislative Session.
Kristina Twitty, GLA’s Director of Operations was on-site today to encourage a culture of life in Georgia, under the Gold Dome. We’ll be working on two pieces of legislation this year.
The first is HB 555 – Ensuring Accuracy in Women’s Healthcare Reporting. Rep. Joyce Chandler (R-Grayson) introduced HB 555 in 2015.
If it becomes law, HB 555 will:
– Ensure all abortion providers certify in every abortion that the patient has been provided informed consent prior to performing an abortion (surgical or chemical)
– Ensure abortion providers report the disposal of fetal remains uniformly regardless of the facility in which the abortion is performed
– Ensure the Department of Public Health has accurate reporting on the number of minor girls obtaining an abortion without parental notice.
Secondly, GLA is excited about the opportunity to further support our closest allies in this battle to protect the unborn – our Pregnancy Resource Centers? These not-for-profit partners are essential in reaching the hearts and needs of women facing the difficult path of an unplanned pregnancy. We expect to see the Georgia Legislature and our friend, Senator Renee Unterman, take this partnership to heart and support the Centers with some exciting legislation.
We’d love to have you join us in this effort by calling your Legislator to thank them for their pro-life stand and encourage their protection of the unborn. Find your legislator’s information here.
